I will overwhelm 'credible combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua will face the American YouTuber in an eight-round match which will be broadcast live on the streaming platform.

British boxer Joshua declared he will "dominate completely" Jake Paul and "break" the American as the two fighters came face-to-face to promote next month's bout.

Former two time unified heavyweight champion Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, theoretically, a mammoth mismatch - at Miami arena on December 19th.

Fighter's Mindset

"I plan to break his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35 years old, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I'm going to really want to cause him pain. That's my goal."

Civil Exchange

In spite of these statements, a composed Joshua and social media star Paul - normally known for his theatrics - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul instead criticized former Joshua's opponent Francis Ngannou and called him "a joke" after the Cameroonian declined a bout proposal.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, meanwhile, targeted UK rival Fury - and refused a large bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul is superior to Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer stated.

"I give him credit for that."

Legitimate Opponent

Despite declaring he will punish Paul, Joshua chose not to talk badly about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he stated.

Jake Paul's History

Paul - who initially became famous on the television network - has mostly fought MMA fighters or faded names since turning professional.

He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Success

Still, the novice continues to be one of boxing's biggest financial successes, regularly earning massive paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28-year-old predicted a knockout win in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would prevent the much-anticipated match between Joshua and Fury, which is reportedly under discussion for two years from now.

"It's going to be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Paul declared.

Size Disparity

As Joshua and Paul participated in the usual face-off, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it drove home just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is really going ahead.
